67% chance of sunny skies in job land...

Yesterday I took a French exam at one of the places where I'm applying for employment. I already took and passed their English exam two weeks ago, and it took them a week to mark all the exams and let us know whether we passed or not.

I wasn't feeling particularly great about how the French exam went, despite assurances that I would do just fine from those who had already heard me speak French. So imagine my surprise when I got a phone call an hour and a half after I got back from the French exam to let me know that I had passed!

Now they're down to a pool of three applicants (myself included) for two jobs. On to the next round of interviews...

It's so hard...

On the right track...

Today I had a really good prelim interview for a job that I would love to have. I passed their English exam with flying colors, so now I have to go next week and sit their French exam. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Fixed!

A couple of nights ago, I sat down on my bed and accidentally popped three slats out of place. I went and reported the problem to the front desk yesterday morning, much to their general amusement.

After I had two rather uncomfortable nights of sleep, the repairman came this afternoon to pop the slats back in place. When I showed him the bed, he got a highly amused look on his face and said, "Eh, vous savez, faut pas faire des folies dessus!"

I protested my innocence, but I don't think he believed me...

Naughty little caterpillars

I bought some new plants to brighten up my new room -- a pink rosebush, a purple African violet, and a coral-colored begonia. They've been living happily on my desk for the past week, and the little rosebush is growing like a weed. Yesterday I went over it carefully, trimming off all the dried blooms. It looked all nice and pretty when I was done.

Fast forward to this morning... I noticed a bunch of little black specks on some of my rosebush's new leaves. I went to brush the little specks off, and that's when I saw them -- two naughty little green caterpillars munching happily away on my little plant!

Luckily, they chose to munch on some of the older leaves, not the pretty little new ones. But, still. How rude. I picked them off and threw them outside in the rain, and hopefully they won't be back.
